Also called ‘Awapuhi’, Shampoo Ginger is a tropical ornamental valued for its pinecone-shaped red bracts filled with fragrant, milky sap. Traditionally used in Polynesia and the Caribbean as a natural hair conditioner and skin moisturizer, this plant is both beautiful and functional.
Its lush green foliage and unique bracts make it a striking landscaping plant, while the sap inside the bracts gives it the common name “shampoo ginger.”
